Courses for the Fall 2013

Examine and analyze the working principles and power/energy storage characteristics of current energy storage technologies including batteries, electric-double layer capacitors and pseudocapacitors, thermal energy storage (latent/latent energy storage), and mechanical energy storage (flywheel, pumped hydroelectric storage, and compressed air energy storage).
Explores fluid properties, hydrostatics, fluid dynamics, similitude, energy and momentum principles, closed conduit flow, open channel flow, and flow measurement. Includes laboratory exercises in flow measurement, open channel flow, pipe friction, physical modelling, and data collection.
